Clevedon Care

Welcome to the Clevedon Care website.

We are a registered charity operating in the Clevedon area of North Somerset and this year we are celebrating our 25th anniversary.

Our work centres around arranging and providing transport for local people to easily get to appointments in Bristol, Southmead, Frenchay and other area hospitals as well as local medical services, including Health Centres and the Cottage Hospital.

Since we started in 1987 more than 40000 trips have been made - saving the NHS over one million pounds over the period.

Volunteers run an office (details below) morning and afternoon, five days a week. Most requests are received via the telephone.

Clients requirements are matched to available drivers by telephone and co-ordinated by a cross-referenced filing system. Duties and responsibilities are determined through a management committee which meets three or four times a year.

Currently we are averaging more than 3000 jobs a year (around sixty each week). Clients are asked to make a donation towards drivers' running costs based on the mileage involved.

Our door-to-door service is greatly appreciated, as the increasing number of requests both from long-term and new clients testify.

If you would like to know more about using this service, please contact David Steele on (01275) 876945 or Jennifer Lewis on (01275) 878637.

Clevedon Care considers itself to be the fif
th essential emergency service in our area and looks forward to many more years of contributing to the community.
